Sitting on the Unsettling Capstone Series-

Crochet sculptures no. 5- Grief / Acceptance

Scale: H 66" x W 31" (168 x 78 cm)

Material: Wool & Acrylic yarn

Grief is the gateway to acceptance. I let the intuition lead my crochet process. Starting with the shape of my homeland, adding wings, making feathers.

Resulting in the color shift of acrylic yarns, from pure black to rust red. Resembling the internal wounds.

i saw someone say 30s are for grieving. as we grow up, there are so many things to grieve yet we don’t realize it.

while i was making the “Fluid” piece, I found something was missing. Entering a new route wasn’t enough to reconcile.

…I find it hard to find peace in this polarizing situation. now I realize. I forgot to grieve. I forgot to say goodbye

which will lead…

“ It’s fascinatinng to see the line and form that appear naturally with intuitive making. ”
